Don’t just treat Cold Sores – prevent them!

Don’t just treat Cold Sores – prevent them!

It happens... You wake up one morning before that important meeting and there you have it, a cold sore on your lip.

When the dreaded virus hits, all you want is a quick fix and a cold sore treatment that’s fast and gets you quickly back on the road to looking and feeling like yourself again. Cold sores won’t disappear immediately, so instead of waiting for one to appear at the worst time (when is there ever a good time?).

There are some simple steps that you can work into your daily routine to stop them appearing and prevent further outbreaks:

Hydration
Hydration is key. We’ve heard it before, but it’s true. Believe it or not, drinking enough water each day can be the answer to some of the biggest beauty problems (we're talking dull skin, brittle nails, thinning hair and yes, cold sores).

One key advantage of staying hydrated (especially when you’re lacking a bit of lustre) is that it makes the skin glow. It helps your body flush out toxins more efficiently, leaving your skin looking fresh and radiant.

Balance is key
If you’re not getting the right amount of nutrition, your immune system can often suffer, especially when you’re not watching what you eat. This can be the prime time when you could suffer from a cold sore outbreak. When focusing on eating a balanced diet, it’s important to ensure that you include plenty of protein, carbohydrates, whole grains and nutrient rich foods.

Rest
When your body is overworked, so is your immune system, which makes it more likely for a cold sore to make itself known. Many people have outbreaks when they're feeling run-down and stressed out.

Getting plenty of sleep is an easy way to make sure your body is relaxed and rested; do your best to get to a sleep schedule that allows you to get seven to eight hours of sleep, so you feel well-rested. There are a few apps that can help regulate your sleep, such as Sleep Cycle, which wakes you up without interrupting a deep snooze https://www.sleepcycle.com

Me time
If you’re run down, it’s understandable that all you want to do is drink cups of tea, eat an absurd amount of chocolate and hide under the duvet until the problem goes away. However, try and put some time aside to spend just 10 minutes on yourself (without reaching for the chocolate buttons!).

Suffering from viruses can play havoc with your skin, which makes it a prime time for cold sores to strike. Make the effort to stick to a skincare routine as best you can, so you can bounce back with vitality and virtue.

Eat, rest, lipivir®, repeat
Sometimes, when you’re suffering with the cold sore virus, an effective beauty routine can go out of the window. However, creating and maintaining a regular skin and lip care routine can really pay off in the long run.

By applying two small dabs of lipivir® on the lip area prone to the virus morning and night, cold sores will be reduced in frequency and prevent them returning in the future. A quick and easy way to help you keep your problems at bay.
